Waterfalls
Sipi Falls are a series of three major waterfalls originating from Mount Elgon as its source.
Sipi falls Is divided into Upper Falls, Middle Falls and Lower Falls depending on the height of the Falls and the villages and Counties surrounding the waterfalls.
Upper Waterfalls: The second Highest drop at 85 meters lying on the upper loop of the Mount Elgon National Park. It’s also sometimes called locally Chepterit or Chebukoch waterfalls.
This Waterfalls is the scenic and accessible through hiking, it lies at an elevation of 2010m above the sea level and 2kms away from the park boundary.

Middle Waterfalls: This is the closest and most accessible waterfall of all the 3. It’s 65 meters in height and adjacent to Sipi Heritage lodge found in Chepkui Village and adjacent to Munarya found in Munarya and Sipi sub-county. This fall is locally called Chekui Waterfalls or Kapsurur Waterfalls.
Lower Waterfalls: Found in Both Kapsinda village and Munarya Village, it’s the highest and the most photographed spectacular waterfalls. It’s iconic and printed in the 10,000 Uganda shillings paper note as a national treasure.
This Falls is called Kaptogolo Falls. It’s 100m drop lying at 1700m above sea level. It’s the only waterfalls you can do abseiling/repelling/snappling outside nature.
It’s locally called Kapsinda Waterfalls or Kaptogolo waterfalls.
Together ,the three waterfalls form a dramatic natural landscape, each with unique hiking trails and magnificent viewpoints.
